About Beside Care
Beside Care started with a simple question: how do you keep an eye on an aging parent without turning their home into a surveillance set? The answer became a privacy-first elder care monitoring service that runs on the Ring cameras families already have.
We could have shipped facial recognition. We chose not to.
The team behind Beside Care kept running into the same situation. A parent or grandparent was aging at home, the family had already put up a Ring camera or two, and the only way to know how the day was going was to either call repeatedly or scrub through camera feeds. Neither felt like care. One felt like checking up. The other felt like surveillance.
We could have built a service that watched constantly, identified faces, and pushed every twitch as a notification. The technology to do that exists. We chose summaries instead. We chose to keep clips transient, to skip facial recognition, and to let families read a calm digest with their morning coffee instead of staring at a feed.

A calmer way to care
Beside Care was built for families who want to be present without being intrusive. The goal is dignity for the person being watched over, and quiet confidence for the people who love them.
Privacy as the default
Short motion clips are analyzed by AI and then discarded. Beside Care keeps text summaries, not a searchable archive of footage. Live view is optional, never running in the background.
A small, focused team
Beside Care is built by a small product team that uses the service for their own families. Decisions get made by people who feel the consequences at the dinner table, not by a layer of stakeholders far from the product.
What we will never do
Protective denials are easier to keep than promises. Here is what Beside Care will not become, no matter how the market shifts.
- We will never handle PHI or position Beside Care as a medical record. It is an observation service, not a clinical tool.
- Your data will never be sold. Beside Care is not in the data brokerage business and we do not share Personal Information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- We will never make medical-device claims. Beside Care is not a medical device, does not diagnose, and does not treat.
- We will never act as an emergency response service. If you need help, call 911. Beside Care does not dispatch responders.
